  • Joining Strength to Strength Report Offers a Roadmap for Moving Toward a More Elder-Friendly Community
  • Creating Community for a Lifetime has issued a new report, Joining Strength to Strength: Realizing the Potential of an Aging Community. The report documents CCFL’s Phase II activities, including development of a vision for an elder-friendly community and the roadmap for moving forward to achieve that vision. Two versions are available: a 10-page briefing and a comprehensive 85-page report.

  • Update: CCFL Implementation Process
  • With the release of a vision for creating a community for a lifetime and a roadmap for achieving the vision – all detailed in the Phase II Briefing and Phase II Report [See "Joining Strength to Strength Report," above] – the CCFL Core Council and Work Groups have completed the work they set out to do. But at the CCFL Core Council meeting on May 10, it was clear the work continues.

  • Five New Projects Target Engagement of Older Adults
  • Five new projects aimed at increasing volunteer and employment opportunities for older adults have been awarded funding from the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Each of the five organizations implementing the projects will receive from $46,000 to $98,000 to develop, implement and measure outcomes of the projects over the next 18 months.

    Although each of the projects aims to engage older adults, the focus of the individual projects differs, ranging from advocacy and working with children to employment and assisting with zoo and park operations.
